2004 Journal

The fall 2004 archery season was filled with ear-shattering bugling bulls! The elk numbers and bull size seem to increase every year. Our client harvested a nice 5X6 bull on a 32 yard shot. Guide Abe bagged a nice 6X6 at 34 yards. Both of these elk were satellite bulls. We had close encounters with three different 350 class herd bulls and experienced an adrenalin attack when a big 380+ herd bull came within 60 yards! It was thrilling to watch an elk herd with fourteen bulls and some 60 cows and then to witness two big 6X6 bulls fighting to obtain mating honors. Four cow elk were harvested during the rifle season. Deer hunting has been challenging - because it is difficult getting past all the elk!
