The fall 2006 archery season was slow, perhaps due to warm temperatures and a full moon during the peak of the rut. The elk were active at night but remained quiet and passive during daylight hours. Even with the daytime slow-down in elk activity, several bulls were called in providing a number of shot opportunities. Despite missed shots to three bulls a nice 6X6 was harvested. The elk became far more active and vocal during late October and November. A large 6X4 bull and six cow elk were harvested during the rifle season.
