2019 Journal

Eight bull elk were harvested this year; five in archery and three in rifle seasons.  All six archery hunters had multiple shot opportunities. For example, fifteen different bulls were called into one twosome.  Seventeen cow elk were taken with rifle, along with two buck mule deer.  

 

An abundance of forage in the area and an increase in total elk numbers made the rifle cow elk hunts very successful. Another year of exceptional soil and sub-soil moisture will help provide excellent Spring and early Summer vegetation growth; and that means big antlers!
